Calgary, Alberta is the major city in the Canadian west servicing the oil and gas industries.

The Government of Canada is a parliamentary democracy, which strives for peace and the establishment of human rights throughout the globe. Ottawa is the national capital and the largest cities are Toronto (Ontario), Montreal (Quebec), Vancouver (British Colombia).

Canada is a participant in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with the United States and Mexico.

The economy is based primarily on natural resources, manufacturing and trade (of goods and services). Canada is a world leader in high technology such as nuclear energy, information technology, oil and gas, minerals, communications, aerospace and medical research.

The climate varies greatly from region to region, but all have 4 distinct seasons. To put this into perspective, weather in Toronto is much like that in New York City and Vancouver weather is similar to London, England. It is not the frigid wasteland that is often imagined, and newcomers are pleasantly surprised to find how hospitable the climate is.
While many parts of the country experience winter temperatures that dip below freezing 2-3 months a year, we have glorious springs, summers and autumns when the weather is much warmer.

The education system is excellent and available to all. Primary and secondary education is free to residents. Colleges and Universities are of international standard, plentiful and accessible at a reasonable cost. Evening and short term specialty courses are also offered in abundance both by private and publicly funded institutions.

The quality of life in Canada is excellent and the standard of living is among the finest in the world.

Our crime rate is among the world's lowest, our traffic is orderly, the air and water supply is clean and food is both inexpensive and abundant.

Human rights and freedoms are enshrined in the Constitution. Labour laws rigidly prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, religion, colour, creed, age and marital status. Excellent unemployment insurance and comprehensive health services are available to residents.

As a Permanent Resident of Canada you would enjoy most of the same rights, privileges and freedoms as native born Canadians. After living in Canada for 3 years, a permanent resident can apply for Canadian Citizenship.
